Losing a pet is so hard, especially around the holidays. Even celebrities can’t escape the heartbreak that comes from losing a pet.

Recently, 33-year-old Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, more popularly known as PewDiePie, had to say goodbye to his beloved pug named Maya.

PewDiePie and Maya have been taking the internet by storm for years, and Felix regularly posts photos of them together on Instagram.

Felix announced Maya’s passing on Instagram in mid-December, writing: “Said farewell to my little Maya this morning.. 17 years is a long time for a pug, but no time in the world would’ve ever been enough..”

He went on to say, “I didn’t think I could love a dog as much as I loved her..Thank you for all the wonderful time we got to spend with you. Thank you for always making my days brighter. Thank you for bringing me closer to Marzia I will miss you so much and I already do.. you will always be in my heart Maya.”

Boasting over 110 million subscribers on YouTube, PewDiePie is easily one of the most well-known and popular channels on the platform. Given his fame, it’s no wonder that millions of people mourned alongside him when he announced the passing of Maya.

The post received nearly 4 million likes and almost 100,000 comments, with people sending condolences to Felix and his family.

PewDiePie’s social media content won’t be the same without sweet Maya, but we’re glad he was willing to share her with the world while she was alive.
