An unlikely friendship formed when a stray cat decided to follow an Australian Shepherd home one day.

It all started when Cay was taking his dog, Coconut, out for a walk around the neighborhood. Suddenly, a stray cat appeared and started begging Coconut for attention!

In an interview with The Dodo, Cay explained, “[The cats] meowing at her, and he’s purring and loving all over her. And the next thing you know, he’s best friends with my dog.”

The trio continued their walk home, where they parted ways with the friendly stray cat. However, their goodbyes were temporary because the very next morning, the cat was waiting for them at the door!

Cay named the cat Bubba and began including him on Coconut’s walks. He told The Dodo that he suspected the cat belonged to someone since it was so friendly, but the neighbors suggested he was simply a neighborhood stray.

Coconut and Bubba quickly developed an unshakeable friendship. Whenever Coconut went outside, she was looking for Bubba and the friendly stray was never far away. It wasn’t long before their visits became a daily habit.

Speaking with The Dodo, Cay shared that he hopes he’ll be able to bring Bubba inside one day and really welcome him into the family. However, his current pet cats are preventing him from doing that right now.

He’s afraid that his house cats would be mean to Bubba, so he welcomes the cat onto his porch and into the yard, but refrains from bringing him inside.
