A local veterinarian examined Patsy the following day and discovered that she had a disease common in wild or stray dogs called ehrlichiosis, which is transmitted by ticks.

Patsy was very sick and needed to be hospitalized.

Patsy is still being cared for in Costa Rica, but in a few weeks, she will be flown to Los Angeles where she will be put up for adoption!
