In a busy city near a construction site, a mama dog and her puppies helplessly lay beneath a building’s skeletal frame. The mother dog was incredibly weak, her ribs showed, and her puppies were concerned and hungry. They took turns snuggling against her, hoping to rouse her. The little ones were also in a weakened state. In fact, the puppy who was fighting the hardest to survive was also the most persistent, trying to wake his mom up with every bit of strength he had left.

Finally noticing their plight, the construction workers complained about the dog family instead of helping them. But one worker had a heart. He called up a local rescue and told them about the pups. The rescuers hurried over, hopeful they would get to the dogs before it was too late. Once they were on the scene, the mother dog tentatively lifted her head to make sure no one was going to hurt her babies. She was still concerned for them despite her failing health.

The rescuers loaded the dogs into their vehicle to head over to the vet. Before the drive, they were given food, and the mama dog was so relieved to have the nourishment her body craved. The puppies watched her closely, and once they felt safe, they also ate, devouring every drop of food placed before them.

The dogs were thoroughly examined by the vet and his staff, and besides being underweight, they got a clean bill of health. It was now time to head to the shelter, where staff would care for the dog family until they all found their forever homes.
