Overcrowded Florida shelter is no place for frightened retriever senior

Mabel is a Golden retriever blend who arrived at the Broward County Animal Control on October 26, 2023 as a stray. She had been reported to have been hit by a vehicle. She does have a visible scratch on her left front leg although she has been walking with seemingly little difficulty.

Sadly, Mabel is not doing well at the shelter and has been very nervous since arriving. Who can blame her; the noise, the constant barking and the strangers all scare the heck out of her. A shelter is no place for a senior dog.

This eight-year-old needs a quiet place to recuperate and feel loved.

PetHarbor Adoption listing: Broward County Animal Care & Adoption is located at 2400 SW 42nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.

MABEL: #A2321961. I am an unaltered female, tan Golden Retriever. The shelter staff think I am about 8 years old. I weigh 27 pounds, I have been at the shelter since Oct. 26, 2023.
