Lonely Shelter Dog Waits With His Only Friend, His Bucket, Hoping To Find Someone To Love Him Forever
Slim, a Pit Bull-Terrier mix, has been waiting in a shelter for 10 long months to find his forever home. We know where he was found. We know how sick and neglected he was.
We know he’s better and is a wonderful guy, but we will never know his real story. How did he end up in the shelter? How did any of these sweet, innocent creatures end up abandoned and lonely?
Found in December of 2014 by rescue workers, Slim had been left in an abandoned house to die. He had no food or water and no way get out. He was malnourished, dirty and very lonely. Taken to the Ashland County Dog Shelter in Ohio, he was cleaned and nursed back to health and is still waiting for his “forever” home.
He has made a very unlikely friend in a tin bucket that he plays with and chews. Having torn apart most of everything else, the bucket remains as the sturdy companion he so truly needs.
“He is approximately 4 to 5 years old, a Pit Bull mix. He has a lot of energy and charm. He had some food guarding issues that the shelter staff and volunteers have worked with and he has come a long way. He loves attention and loves to play. He is a very strong boy too who does not have the best of leash manners. He is anxious in the shelter and has destroyed most of the toys he’s been given. But his favorite toy is his Bucket!!! He loves his bucket and is lost without it!! He sits like a perfect gentleman for a treat and takes them so nicely. He will need a home that will continue to work on these manners he has learned. Slim really needs a rescue to take him in and give him time to decompress after all this shelter time.”
