A shelter dog with a deep yearning for human affection has finally found his forever home, following a video that captured the hearts of thousands. Speck, a two-year-old Border Collie mix, had spent the past year and a half at Bullock County Humane Society, patiently waiting for a family to call his own.

While Speck got along with dogs and cats alike, his true love lay in human companionship. Desiray Miracle-Wilder, the director at the Bullock County Humane Society, noted, “He literally just wants you to hold his hand. He is going to make a wonderful pet to someone.”

Despite his loving nature, Speck was continually passed over by potential adopters. This changed when a video of Speck reached out through his kennel bars, desperately seeking human contact, went viral. In the video, he wraps his paws around Desiray’s arm, his tail wagging fervently as he tries to squeeze through the bars for closeness.

This moving demonstration of Speck’s longing for love touched the hearts of thousands. Soon, a family saw the video and knew they had found their new furry family member.

Sharing the exciting news, the shelter announced on their Facebook page, “Speck has a rescue Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue that already has a FUR EVER home lined up for him! He will be running a 26 acre farm with Mike, his family, and 2 fur brothers! We are so excited.”

However, there is a small hurdle: Speck’s new family lives out of state. The shelter and Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue are currently seeking volunteer drivers, truckers, or pilots to help transport Speck to his new home in New York.

Speck’s story is not only a testament to his irresistible charm but also a catalyst for other shelter dogs finding homes. “Not only did Speck get adopted due to this video of his cuteness but he also helped a few other fur babies get rescued and he got us some food donations!” Desiray wrote.
