Matilda the English bulldog was saved: Can Zeus find safety too?
On Friday, Matilda, an eight-year-old English bulldog languished in her shelter cage at Lancaster Animal Shelter with her head hung low; she had given up on life.
Matilda’s owner surrendered her to the shelter on November 28. She had stopped eating, her breathing had become labored; she had been failed by everyone in her life. Even with two adoption commitments from the public, no one ever came to the shelter to meet her.
Matilda’s plight went viral. Thousands of animal lovers shared her story and her brief video. By Friday night, Matilda was safe at her foster home; bathed and tucked into a soft blanket and bed, resting comfortably.
So how about helping Zeus? Brought in as a stray on November 14, no one ever came to claim him either. Another seven-year-old English bulldog left to wonder what happened to his family. Sadly, Zeus is not doing well either.
“STATUS: RED: Kennel stress”
When asked what was meant by “kennel stress” a volunteer offered the following information:
“It was stated that he was lunging at kennel door, but I did not witness that today. He was very calm.”
